1.) Pollute water
2.) Kill Wild life
3.) cost taxpayer money for clean up
4.) Raise oil/gas prices
well there's 4. dunno if that helps at all.5 problems an oil spill can cause?
Immediate death,Painful death,Slow death, residual death, long term death.5 problems an oil spill can cause?
Environmental effects
Studies of the Exxon Valdez oil spill have shown that the environmental damage caused by oil spills can be greater than was previously thought. It is now thought that the impacts to marine life can be evident at less than one part per billion petroleum hydrocarbons. The lighter fractions of petroleum, such as benzene and toluene, are more toxic, but are more volatile and evaporate quickly. Heavier components of crude oil, such as polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) appear to cause the most damage; while they are less toxic, they persist in the environment much longer than volatile components.

I have a 91 Honda civic 1.5 l engine automatic.with a oil problem?
I have a 91 Honda civic 1.5 l engine automatic with 125,000 miles.with a oil problem i just recently switched over to castrol syntec blend and before that i used normal penzoil 10w 30 now i use castrol syntec 10w 30.i did the oil change and whatever but the drain plug seemed old .now there is a little oil under the car (on the oil pan) and it slighty leaks.do you think it is the older looking oil drain plug?I just did my oil change about 900 miles ago.should i wait till 1500 to change the plug oil and filter?or just keep adding oil till 3000 It is practicly nothing that it leaks like the size of a 50 cent coin once in a while.like the size of a dime once every two days.on the oil dip stick where should the oil be up to?My friend has a 97 Honda prelude and he put castrol syntec when he hit 100,000 he told me that he also his car leaked when he made the transition to syntec.he also said it burned a little fast till the car became accustomed to it Thank you ALL!I have a 91 Honda civic 1.5 l engine automatic.with a oil problem?
On all Honda's that year a crush washer is used to seal the drain plug. They can be reused a few times but more than likely it needs a new one. If your drain plug looks worn replace it too. If by any chance the threads are stripped out, you'll need to replace the pan or get it repaired. I would advise going to a Honda dealer. Plus I would advise using Valevoline 10-30. Honda builds the best motors in the world. That means using basic high grade oil and the cheapest gas you can find. Never add any additives to the oil or fuel. Regular tune ups and valve adjustments plus 1 or 2 timing belts and water pumps will take that engine well over 200K miles. Don't forget air and fuel filters on tune ups.

Car problems after oil change; gas?
i have a 05 magnum and i got a oil change yesterday. when i left, i noticed my oil light was on so i turned around. and when got back my car was smokin. i lost 2 quarts of oil. they said the problem was their mistake. they didn't do something to the oil filter that they was suppose to.do. and every since then i notice my car been using more gas than usual. way more. anyone know what maybe the problem b4 i take it back tomorrow?Car problems after oil change; gas?
Shade tree is mostly right. The oil filter being lose or having been double gasketed would just let oil out and cause alot of smoking. As long as you kept oil in it and caught the problem it should be no big deal. However it is possible while cleaning the engine and looking around in there they knocked off a vaccum line, or leaned on one and broke it.
It has happened to me before.Car problems after oil change; gas?
It really doesn't appear to be related.
I suspect that they simply forgot to tighten the filter or perhaps the gasket was missing on the new filter - in any event, it sounds like they rectified that problem, which really should have nothing to do with your fuel consumption.
If they had inadvertently disconnected an HEGO or some other electronic sensor, for instance, you would have a check engine light on.
probaly double gasketed the oil filter.......happens alot . but i agree with the other guy, appears now you are looking for something.....this happened yesterday and you have allready noticed a drop in gas mileage.....wow
It was probably because they didn't tighten the oil filter but all that would do is squirt the oil on your exhaust thats why it was smoking and they would have had to top up the oil. Other than that nothing could have happened . If its using more gas it's probably because your looking for something ,, sorry and it won't use more gas because of this. The bottom of your car most likely got a free oiling too.

Just for the record, this is one of many reasons I don't use the Quick Lube Shops, (Jiffy Lube, Quick Tune, Snappy Lube or Oil Can Henry's).
I used to work in a Snappy Lube. These places have a gurantee that say if your oil change takes longer than 20 minutes, your next one is free.
Yeah, uh after the ';1,2,3 Cork It'; routine that we had to do I decided it was time to relocate myself to a Chevrolet Dealership and remain there. Needless to say, I can sleep at night knowing my customers are not coming back upset and mad because their engine decided it was tired of dirty oil.
I am going to have to side with the other guy and say its either a double gasket, (which happens when the moron in the pit does not check the filter mount). Or they installed the incorrect filter on your vehicle.
In some cases, the incorrect filter can cause a back pressure problem that will pop the diaphragm in the oil pressure sensor.
Personally, I would have them NOT do any more work on your vehicle and take that baby to Dodge and have them take a good look at your vehicle. This way, any damage that ';Jiffy Jack's Lube Shack'; did to your vehicle can be covered by them and their deep pockets.
Good Luck!
I would take it back to them and shove it up their *** make them re-emburse you for gas and the oil change etc.
Its their fault it happend they even admitted it.

98 jetta oil pump problems! help!!?
wen we start the car. instead of marking the oil pressure it has the oil pressure blank (dashboard).. but then after the car heats up it does show the oil pressure. is this normal!!?? maybe I need a new oil pump.? any answers or ideas will be greatly appreciated thanks =)98 jetta oil pump problems! help!!?
check your oil level first and foremost.
Also you should check if the type of oil you're using in your car is factory spec. Oil when it heats up becomes more and more watery(lower viscosity). Thinner oils such as SAE 5 or 5W30 may not be thick enough to allow your engine's oil pump to push them through properly after they heat up to your engine's operating temperature which would cause your oil pressure light to come on. So try putting in a 10W30 in when you change your oil next.
I'm 99% sure it's not your oil pump. If it was, your engine would probably already be dead.

First, its Glade that makes that, NOT AirWick. And you are not the only one with this problem.

1996 honda civic engine oil problem?
my civic is always out of engine oil, i keep putting it in but after 2 weeks its gone.1996 honda civic engine oil problem?
You're either burning it or leaking it. Are there stains or puddles of oil in your driveway? If not, it's burning oil. And if you're burning through QUARTS in 2 weeks, then the car should be obviously smoking and smelling.
********************
If it is leaking, then yes, it would leak while you were driving. But to be losing that much oil so quickly, you would also see puddles or stains by parking it even for a few minutes.
It has to be one or the other: leaking or burning.
