Suzuki quadrunner oil problems?

I have a 1996 suzuki quadrunner 250cc. When i got it which was about 2 weeks ago it wasnt burning any oil. so i changed the oil and now it smokes. Is this because i put in too much oil? i put in about 3 1/2 quarts is that right? the bubble on the right side of the motor is full all the way up to the top above the 2 linesSuzuki quadrunner oil problems?
3 1/2 Quarts!!!!!!!!!!! That sounds way off!!!! Is it a 2 stroke or 4 Stroke?! If it's 4 Stroke that's way to much....sounds like 2 1/2 quarts to much. I have a TRX 450R and my clutch side holds a quart.....and my engine side holds a quart....and i have a 520 big bore kit in it so something doesn't sound right there. 3 1/2 quarts IS about the correct amount of oil for this ATV. More important is the level in the window (approximately 3/4 full)


Also be sure to use oil designed for an ATV or motorcycle/ not automotive oil.
Way to much oil. Place bike on a level surface fill until half way up the little window.
