Oil will remain in the area for untold years if not cleaned up. If ignored the whole area becomes desolate as nothing can live there. It could wipe out a whole community (consider a fishing community or coastal resort). It could contaminate drinking water. It could contaminate crop fields. Oil is like fire, if left untouched destruction follows.What problems can oil spills create?
