Kawasaki KLR 650 oil consumption problems?

Its NORMAL ?? for the Kawasaki KLR 650 to use a quart of oil every 600-800 miles?

what a piece of junk!Kawasaki KLR 650 oil consumption problems?
If it is an older model (early/mid 90's), a common problem was the crankcase breather tube that is run into the air filter box. Oil that is able to get into the tube will pretty much run to the filter box, where it can soak the filter and run out to the ground. Are you getting a lot of oil on your swingarm or leaving spots on the ground after a ride?

My '94 KLX 650 did the same thing (they have the same motor as the KLR). You will need to modify the crankcase breather tube to keep large amounts of oil from getting out of the motor. This can be done by running the tube vertically from the motor, then back down to the air box.

If this isn't the case, then you could have worn rings/valve guides, and allowing oil into combustion chamber and your burning it off.

But mine would lose oil like your stating just through the breather tube!Kawasaki KLR 650 oil consumption problems?
No. Not unless you ride it at 70+mph on a regular basis.
Depending on how long you have had this bike and on your usage, on and off road; I would IMO say you have ring wear and that's the reason for the high oil consumption, barring oil leakage.

It depends on how much maintenance you've done in the past, will give you today's results.
