it could be a bunch of things causing it but the light is on because of low oil pressure or low oil level. first check you oil and make sure you have enough. how long has it been since you changed your oil? it could be your oil is thin and you have low oil pressure or your oil filter is plugged causing oil pressure. if you have had a recent oil change it could be your oil pump screen is clogged, oil pump about to go bad or worst case scenario your motor is tired and will need a rebuild.
sometimes a bad sending unit for the oil pressure will cause this to happen and it could also be the oil pump acting up on it,that will cause a drop in oil pressure,and it too will cause this to happen,what you need to do is have a shop take a look at this and give you a hands on opinion if i could see and hear the car run i could find the problem,a good repair shop should be able to give you a real good diagnoses on this one,good luck on it.
