It means that the USA needs to find a means to stop being dependent on Middle Eastern oil.





It's a power and control thing... like parents over a child. Say you are 5 years old and depend on your parents to feed you. Without them you would starve and die. Your parents have authority over you because you need them. Once the USA runs out of oil, it will be completely dependent on ME nations that have the majority of the world's oil supplies.





Knowing this, these nations can manipulate the oil market; thereby, influence the USA economy.... this is an example of an oil weapon.What problems are cause when middle easterners use oil weapons to offend the usa?

Americans could control their destiny if they cut their consumption by 10 to 20 percent. The impact on the middle east producers would be significant. Most Americans could manage their gas consumption much better and easily cut back 10%.
wow - hasnt mankind progressed well in terms of technology - today you can make weapons out of oil. Im just a bit worried that its soft lol
The problem with us Americans is we always think it's us against them. When oil prices go up, it is the middle easterner's fault rather than simple market economy. We see large non-American nations as enemies all the time. Why can't we look at ourselves and see how we have bullied others and how arrogant we are. We should ';protect ourselves'; through good politics, diplomacy and working with other nations in the world. We should explore alternative energy and get rid of corporate lobbyists and politicans who only have eyes on their own agenda. I don't agree with this columnist at all.
