Why do you believe that the engine is NOT running hot?
An engine temperature gauge reading hot, might suggest otherwise, but if the engine is actually running hot, it is also highly likely that the oil pressure will drop, and those two indications together suggest that there is something wrong, and if not dealt with, the engine is likely to be seriously damaged. Don't ignore the instrumentation too lightly! Ask for advice from a competent engineer.
The sensor may be bad, or the wire is broken or has come diconnected from the sensor.
sounds like you could have a bad ground on eletrical.or bad sensors.
