when president bush took office the price of oil was $1.46. then years later when a democratic congress took over gas was $2.30. meaning that when we had a republican congress the cost of gas was lower. Now we have a democratic congress and the cost of gas is around $4.30. with these proven facts does this mean that Bush and the republicans are not the ones to blame for the rise in oil prices? Are the democrats the ones actually behind our oil problems?
Congress cannot control the price of gas!!
Oil is bid up or down depending on demand, regardless of how much there is. China, India and other developing nations are using huge amounts of oil because they are undergoing the equivalent of our industrial revolution.
That, coupled with the aggressive rhetoric bush is using with Iran (causing fears of another war, and a drop in oil production) is part of the reason for high prices.
Another huge factor is that our dollar is extremely weak compared to the Euro because of our massive debt. What that does is make our dollar worth less than the Euro, so we pay more for oil and other goods.
Hope this helped. Are the democrats the ones actually behind our oil problems?
The reason that the price of gas (and oil) is so high is simply because of supply and demand. Nations like China and India (';The Rise of Others';) have increased their gas consumption dramatically, thus creating a greater demand against a stable supply.
This economic phenomenon is not related to the president of the Congress.
The Democrats, however, have consistently vetoed attempts to develop and explore other sources of oil, including and especially those in ANWR. They site that oil companies are not drilling some 75% of the leases they currently hold but much of this is due to the fact that those leases are on lands that now have been tested and do not hold the oil stores once suspected. Duh. But they'll use anything to mislead the public.
The oil rigs damaged by Katrina were not re-opened because of restrictions created by Democrats. New rigs are not built because of restrictions by Democrats. ANWR is not explored (and the portion of it in question is comparable to the size of a postage stamp on a football field, btw) because of the Democrats. Clinton had much to do with this.
Nuclear power plants, which would help tremendously, have not been built in years because of the Democrats.
Today the Dems complain that nothing now will help and that it will take ten years to render results. They should have thought about this during the Clinton administration when the voted against everything.
So, you are correct that the Democrats are to blame, but it is more in the long-run for their ignorance and cow-towing to pressure by the environmental lobbies.
it is interesting that higher crude oil and the crime being committed by liberal speculators over GREED is driving the fuel prices up...which hurts the lower income level families which affects how they veiw Washington.
OBAMA should be ashamed, as a U S Senator he is doing NOTHING to help STOP this crime. HE IS IN POWER RIGHT NOW, what is he doing? NOTHING, just like he would do if theoretically he got elected.
He is promising everyone everything, flip flopping on critical issues, you cannot trust his word, he does not know what that means.
McCain 08...you can trust his word.
Its the republicans, they want to spend taxpayer money to drill in Alaska's animal sanctuary to drill for little oil only fueled by George Bush and Mcbush to kill off those already endangered animals.
In all, republicans don't care any wildlife and just felt like putting the polar on the endangered list to look like they care.
No - those are only coincidences of timing, nothing more.
Using that logic, you could say that the higher prices are due to the fact that the UK sent Prince Harry to Afghanistan. After all, the prices were lower when he was still at university.
Absolutely - without question! But to listen to the libtards, Bush is the absolute ruler of the world, and is responsible for everything that has ever gone bad in their lives.
Astute observation. They are the people who are interfering with approval of new sensible drilling sites to alleviate this problem. You are right on!
