98 jetta oil pump problems! help!!?

wen we start the car. instead of marking the oil pressure it has the oil pressure blank (dashboard).. but then after the car heats up it does show the oil pressure. is this normal!!?? maybe I need a new oil pump.? any answers or ideas will be greatly appreciated thanks =)98 jetta oil pump problems! help!!?
check your oil level first and foremost.





Also you should check if the type of oil you're using in your car is factory spec. Oil when it heats up becomes more and more watery(lower viscosity). Thinner oils such as SAE 5 or 5W30 may not be thick enough to allow your engine's oil pump to push them through properly after they heat up to your engine's operating temperature which would cause your oil pressure light to come on. So try putting in a 10W30 in when you change your oil next.





I'm 99% sure it's not your oil pump. If it was, your engine would probably already be dead.
