Car problems after oil change; gas?

i have a 05 magnum and i got a oil change yesterday. when i left, i noticed my oil light was on so i turned around. and when got back my car was smokin. i lost 2 quarts of oil. they said the problem was their mistake. they didn't do something to the oil filter that they was suppose to.do. and every since then i notice my car been using more gas than usual. way more. anyone know what maybe the problem b4 i take it back tomorrow?Car problems after oil change; gas?
Shade tree is mostly right. The oil filter being lose or having been double gasketed would just let oil out and cause alot of smoking. As long as you kept oil in it and caught the problem it should be no big deal. However it is possible while cleaning the engine and looking around in there they knocked off a vaccum line, or leaned on one and broke it.

It has happened to me before.Car problems after oil change; gas?
It really doesn't appear to be related.

I suspect that they simply forgot to tighten the filter or perhaps the gasket was missing on the new filter - in any event, it sounds like they rectified that problem, which really should have nothing to do with your fuel consumption.

If they had inadvertently disconnected an HEGO or some other electronic sensor, for instance, you would have a check engine light on.
probaly double gasketed the oil filter.......happens alot . but i agree with the other guy, appears now you are looking for something.....this happened yesterday and you have allready noticed a drop in gas mileage.....wow
It was probably because they didn't tighten the oil filter but all that would do is squirt the oil on your exhaust thats why it was smoking and they would have had to top up the oil. Other than that nothing could have happened . If its using more gas it's probably because your looking for something ,, sorry and it won't use more gas because of this. The bottom of your car most likely got a free oiling too.

Just for the record, this is one of many reasons I don't use the Quick Lube Shops, (Jiffy Lube, Quick Tune, Snappy Lube or Oil Can Henry's).

I used to work in a Snappy Lube. These places have a gurantee that say if your oil change takes longer than 20 minutes, your next one is free.

Yeah, uh after the ';1,2,3 Cork It'; routine that we had to do I decided it was time to relocate myself to a Chevrolet Dealership and remain there. Needless to say, I can sleep at night knowing my customers are not coming back upset and mad because their engine decided it was tired of dirty oil.

I am going to have to side with the other guy and say its either a double gasket, (which happens when the moron in the pit does not check the filter mount). Or they installed the incorrect filter on your vehicle.

In some cases, the incorrect filter can cause a back pressure problem that will pop the diaphragm in the oil pressure sensor.

Personally, I would have them NOT do any more work on your vehicle and take that baby to Dodge and have them take a good look at your vehicle. This way, any damage that ';Jiffy Jack's Lube Shack'; did to your vehicle can be covered by them and their deep pockets.

Good Luck!
I would take it back to them and shove it up their *** make them re-emburse you for gas and the oil change etc.

Its their fault it happend they even admitted it.
