Oil pressure problems with 95 Camaro?

I replaced the oil sending unit on my 95 camaro only to find my oil prssure fluctuating. Cold starts are hard 60+/- seconds with no movement on the oil gage. It starts goes to 70psi until the engine warms up. At operating temp the pressure is 20 to 40psi while driving but drops to 10 psi when hot. Went from 10w30 to 10w40 (new filter and STP) but no change in oil behavior. Dealer suggests oil pump possibly bearings. ~35K on rebuilt motor-new oil pump, bearings. No major engine noise.

Any thoughts would be helpful. Maybe additional checks.Oil pressure problems with 95 Camaro?
Sounds like you have cam or main bearing problems, That's a HV oil pump if it's pumping 60-70 pounds cold and it should pump 40-50 on the road and 20-30 at idle. Loss of pressure that much when the oil gets thin can only be bearings. When did this start? Just all of a sudden? After a hard launch or hi rev?

I would try another oil pressure gauge just to make sure before you call it on the motor. 1 minute of no pressure(dry start) will kill your bearings! If this has happened alot, you need to tear it back down. Check the gauge first and try another sending unit. It is possible to get a bad part.Oil pressure problems with 95 Camaro?
I rebuilt several Chev V8s, I would think you should have oil pressure within 10 seconds of starting, not 60.

Actually the other numbers aren't that unusual, 40 running and 10 at idle sounds about right.

Is this a real pressure guage or the one in your dash?

I don't know that you can read the dash guage and get much from it other than you got pressure or you dont.
You have internal engine problems. I would recommend that you unplug the oil pressure sender and buy a ';For Sale'; sign.
